Details Emerge About Plainfield Schools Intent to Purchase, Integrate Black United Fund

TAPinto Plainfield has obtained important details about a transition plan to make BUF and its programs part of the Plainfield School district. Currently, the center contracts with the district, as do the rest of the childcare centers attended by Plainfield's pre-schoolers. In April, the Board voted to approve a revised letter of intent to purchase all of BUF properties—508-15 Grant Avenue for $6.1 million, 403 West Seventh Street for $5.2 million,...
James Demetriades, Karen Jezierny Elected as New Board Chairs at Princeton Community Housing
Princeton, NJ – For all the talk about growth in Princeton, and all the imagined consequences of that growth, Princeton actually has grown very little in the past 50 years – from about 25,000 to 30,000, as TAPinto Princeton pointed out in a recent article. As slow as that growth has been, it might have been even slower but for the efforts of Princeton Community Housing, founded in 1967. Since then PCH has provided and now manages affordable housing that serves more than 1,100 residents, or 3.5 percent of the Princeton population in 491 affordable rental homes...
To the Editor: Historic Preservation Commission Saves Jugtown from 'Overwhelming' Addition to 344 Nassau
In a personal opinion piece published May 16, the editor of TAPinto Princeton, Richard K. Rein, recently reported the Princeton Historic Preservation Commission’s rejection of an application for major site development at 344 Nassau Street, the site of the historic Hornor House, located in the Jugtown Historic District. Mr. Rein states the “neighborhood sees growth as the enemy” and complains that “the first person to stand up to object raised the usual litany of NIMBY complaints.” Mr. Rein’s credentials as being pro-development are well-understood by all who have been in opposition to the developer’s application and his bias...

‘Perfect timing’
Anthony Iovino’s dream of a state-of-the-art, all-inclusive playground behind Monroe’s Pfeiffer Community Center is inching closer to reality. Iovino – a local resident whose son Finn was diagnosed with autism at 2 – approached township officials with the idea last June and “obviously we embraced that,” township Mayor Greg Wolfe said in front of the playground site on April 27.
