Bay County coffee shop and bar to close in December

KAWKAWLIN TWP, MI – Cafe One 3, a multipurpose establishment in Kawkawlin Township, will close its doors Dec. 24, owners Ben and Megan McParlan announced on social media. The business at 1459 S. Huron Road combines a coffee shop, bar, lounge and the Double S Party Store under one roof. The McParlans opened the cafe in 2018 and added a bar and lounge in 2023.

DTE proposes 254-megawatt wind farm in two Bay County townships

BAY COUNTY, MI – DTE is considering Williams and Beaver townships in Bay County for a proposed wind farm, company officials confirmed Thursday, Nov. 5. The energy company is exploring a 254-megawatt Wind Energy Conversion System at the two township locations, according to a company spokesperson. The exact location has not been finalized, as the project remains in its early stages.

SAGINAW, Mich. (WJRT) - Voters in Saginaw turned down the proposal to eliminate the property tax cap. The measure lost by six points. In 1979, Saginaw residents voted to put a limit on property tax collections at $3.8 million, a limit believed to be like no other in the country. No inflation is included in that tax cap, so over the years, the city says it has reduced services because costs have increased.
