    Suspect arrested, charged in deadly shooting outside KCK Dollar General, police say

    KANSAS CITY, Kan. — A 17-year-old male suspect is in custody and facing charges in connection to an April deadly shooting outside a Dollar General store in Kansas City, Kansas.

    KCK police reports the U.S. Marshalls Fugitive Apprehension Task Force took the suspect into custody Wednesday in Kansas City, Missouri.

    The Wyandotte County District Attorney’s Office has charged the suspect with first-degree murder, according to KCKPD.

    KCK police officers responded to the shooting just before 7 p.m. on Monday, April 22, near N. 61st Street and Leavenworth Road.

    When officers arrived on scene they found a man, identified as 22-year-old Gerald Jones II, in the parking lot. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The suspect is currently being held in the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center awaiting extradition to Wyandotte County.
