‘Everyone is learning’: Powwow held in Guntersville to explore Native American history
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - People from all walks of life traveled to Guntersville and learned more about the Native American heritage over the weekend. The annual United Cherokee Indian Powwow was held on Saturday and Sunday, giving people the incentive to understand the culture of Native American history. The event provided demonstrations of archery, flint knapping and tomahawk throwing.
(Updated) 2 CPD officers involved in wreck, 1 suspect arrested after pursuit
Updated May 3 2024, at 2:46 p.m. CULLMAN, Ala. – Two Cullman Police Department officers were involved in a wreck Thursday night, May 2, around 9:30 while responding to assist with a pursuit. The suspect in the pursuit has been arrested. The wreck occurred at Second Avenue and Fifth Street Southeast in Cullman. The pursuit resulted in the arrest of Dustin Seth Eddleman, 39, of Cullman, who faces multiple charges. Eddleman had felony warrants with Georgia and Tennessee and allegedly tossed drugs from the vehicle, which were recovered by police. He was also allegedly in possession of a firearm. The officers involved were Aaron Brolsma and Hunter Riddlesperger, according to the department. They were both transported to area hospitals. Chief David Nassetta said both have now been released. Non-resident student enrollment open for Cullman City Schools
CULLMAN, Ala. – Registration is now open for students who live outside Cullman City Schools’ city limits, but would still like to potentially attend school within the district.Families interested in enrollment for non-resident students should contact the applicable school for more information, as availability is based on space in the applicable grade levels at each school. Kindergarten through second-grade students attend Cullman City Primary School; third-grade through sixth-grade students attend East or West Elementary Schools (availability depending on grade level); seventh- and eighth-grade students attend Cullman Middle School; and ninth- through 12th-grade students attend Cullman High School.Tuition for non-resident students is $1,000 per student capped at $5,000 per family per academic year. Once approved, payments will be accepted beginning May 1, 2024, with a 10% discount if paid in full be 3 p.m. on July 1, 2024.
