JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – The 2024 Blue Plum Festival will return to King Commons in downtown Johnson City in June.

The free music festival will take place June 7-8. The event will run from 4-10:30 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Saturday.

2024 marks the 25th year of the Blue Plum Festival.

“We’re celebrating our anniversary by looking to the future and celebrating our past,” Cooper Reaves, festival co-chair, stated in a news release. “We wanted to make this year’s festival extra special. Festival goers will notice a renewed focus on the festival’s music performances, with a focus on Americana and Appalachian artists.”

The festival’s lineup features bands like Motherfolk, Shadow Grass, Happy Landing, Wheelright and others. Several other artists who have performed in previous years will also return to the stage, organizers said.

The Blue Plum Festival, which celebrates the culture of Johnson City, moved to King Commons for the first time in 2023.

Festival-goers can find live music, artists and craftspeople, food vendors and other attractions.

“We have heard it said over and over, the Blue Plum Festival is where summer begins in Johnson City and we look forward to seeing everyone downtown this year for the festival,” Dianna Cantler, Blue Plum Organization board president, said in the release. “The festival has evolved over the past 25 years, but it still is the best place to hear great Americana music. Our music committee consistently finds incredibly talented artists, who put on a great show and this year is not different.”
