A Woodstock man turned 102 Wednesday, and celebrated the milestone with his family and friends. Oaks at Towne Lake held a birthday celebration Wednesday afternoon for Roger Antonucci, who has been a resident at the nursing home for close to three years, said Melanie Thompson, his daughter. Cherokee Fire promotes 10 firefighters
Cherokee County Fire and Emergency Services promoted ten firefighters Sept. 26 at the Cherokee County Fire Training Complex in Holly Springs. Fire Apparatus Operators Joseph Crawford, William (Eric) Miller, Deombre Jones, Marcus Hanie, Matthew Bennett, Wesley Daniel, David Webb, and Brent Connell were promoted to sergeant. Sgt. Michael Morgan was promoted to lieutenant. Battalion Chief Daniel Carder was promoted to the rank of division chief. Carder serves as the training chief for CCFES. The promoted firefighters were surrounded by family, friends, and colleagues as they were recognized and celebrated for their accomplishments.
Holly Springs City Council approves rezoning for 20 townhomes
A 20-unit townhome community is coming to Holly Springs. The Holly Springs City Council voted 4-0 Monday to approve a request from Ben Lively of Sunward Properties to rezone almost two acres located along Edmondson Lane off of Old Highway 5 from general commercial to traditional neighborhood development to build a 20-unit townhome community. Cherokee County District Attorney's Office Chief Investigator Dwight Kelley is retiring Sept. 29 after 36 years of service to county citizens, the office announced.
