JAMESTOWN, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Jamestown teen allegedly shot a person in the face with a flare gun during an argument Tuesday night, according to police.

Officers responded around 8:15 p.m. to Newland and Forest Avenues, where they said Marquan Carper-Cunningham, 18, allegedly brandished a flare gun and shot someone in the face with it, injuring them.

“The reckless nature of this act could have caused more serious injuries to the victim or the bystanders,” Jamestown police said.

Authorities said Carper-Cunningham ran from the scene after the alleged assault and a warrant for his arrest was filed. An officer found him the next day and he was taken to the city jail to await arraignment on charges of assault and reckless endangerment.
