It has always been a joyful part of her life. She wove potholders and sold them door to door as a young child. When she was 10, she was taught by a Quaker woman how to weave her first rug. She learned from an 80-year-old grandmother how to set up and weave on a large floor loom. Since then, she has studied with professionals in the field of rug weaving.

Sales at River Artisan’s Cooperative to benefit scholarships
BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. – The River Artisan’s Cooperative store on Main Street in Bellows Falls has a wide range of art and craft articles by talented and interesting local artists. Of particular interest are rugs and other items made by Betsy Foster, as the entire artist portion of these sales has been designated to be used for annual scholarship awards through a scholarship fund that will encourage students, particularly those living in foster care, to continue post secondary school studies focused on arts and crafts.

EdgarMay fall swim team registration open
SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – Edgar May Health and Recreation Center is excited to announce that registration is open for the fall 2023 season of the Stingrays youth swim team. We are also excited to announce that Aquatics Coordinator Julia Lamb will be coaching the Stingrays this season. Previously, Julia has coached her own club swim team in Tampa, Fla., as well as worked with National level swimmers. She has also assisted the Stingrays in previous seasons.

New cannabis shop opens in Chester
The Okemo Valley Chamber recently celebrated a ribbon cutting ceremony with new member Down to the Roots in Chester. Co-owners Scott Blair along with Andi Goldman and Meredith Milliken cut the ribbon along with their team —all dressed in matching plaid shirts — and Chamber Director Carol Lighthall (in back).
