Seraphic Fire performs in Grafton
GRAFTON, Vt. – “A Seraphic Fire Christmas” in Grafton, Vt., returned for a third performance and did not disappoint, drawing a packed crowd to the Grafton Brick Meeting House, including many new faces. The program featured a celebration of Seraphic Fire’s “best of the best” of their four Christmas recordings. A sampling of the pieces included audience favorites like “O come, O come Emmanuel,” and “Carol of the Bells,” also known as “the Ukrainian Bell Carol,” along with the most requested, “Jesus Christ the Apple Tree.” The hour and a half program received several standing ovations, and closed the evening with “Silent Night.”
“A Christmas Carol” to be performed
WILMINGTON - Relive the days of live radio and help support the Deerfield Valley Food Pantry. Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” will be presented live as a 1930s radio play. Six actors portray 41 characters from Ebenezer Scrooge to Tiny Tim. Live sound effects and radio commercials will be created as they were done at that time.

The old days
The photo with this article is a 1909 postcard. Not only is it a great photograph, it reveals some interesting history. The young oxen are in a small ox yoke, drawing a small wagon of some sort. You’ll notice the oxen are not matched when it comes to size. There is, written in white letters at the bottom, “Sept. 7 1909 Dick. Dan. Clyde Clark.” Charles Wellman was the photographer, and wrote this title in white ink directly on the glass negative. This way each postcard printed had this information.
Museum to dedicate nature center
MARLBORO - The Southern Vermont Natural History Museum has announced that it will dedicate the former Pool Learning Center on 117 Adams Cross Road as the Pool Nature Center. The building and adjacent grounds were given to the museum by the Pool Learning Center after the learning center closed. In addition, an adjacent parcel was given to the museum by the Masonic Lodge to make a total acreage of 7.5 acres.
