On target for another five-year run: Constellation Furyk & Friends getting close to renewal

The Constellation Furyk & Friends PGA Tour Champions event is on track to return to the First Coast for another five-year period beginning in 2026.

The main issue is where the tournament, hosted by 17-time PGA Tour winner Jim Furyk and his wife Tabitha, will be played. All that is known is that the Timquana Country Club membership has opted out after the current five-year contract that ends in 2025.

Negotiations are ongoing with Constellation Energy to return as the title sponsor and Circle K as the local presenting sponsor, which PGA Tour Champions President Miller Brady said are the first pieces of the puzzle.

He doesn't think it will be complicated and is optimistic deals will be finalized before this year's event begins on Oct. 4.

"In the short lifespan of this tournament, it really has turned out to be one of our best," he said of the event, which began in 2021 and will be held at Timuquana in 2024 and 2025. "We have a great title sponsor in Constellation, a great host organization in the Furyk Foundation and a great local presenting sponsor in Circle K. It really doesn't get much better."

Tournament has been a boon for First Coast charity

PGA Tour Champions players voted Furyk & Friends the best event on the schedule in 2022. It’s also raised more than $3.5 million in charity.

As far as the venue tournament director Adam Renfroe said there are multiple options.

"There has been a tremendous interest from facilities in Jacksonville," Renfroe said. "Our primary search keeps us in Duval County. That's our intention. But we're not going to rule anything out. We have great options."

Brady also was not stressing over the next site.

"The good news is that we have time on our side to find the right venue," he said. "We're in the home of the PGA Tour. We're going to find the right course."

Tickets went on sale this week and the tournament announced that the Brothers Osborne will be the headliner for the Furyk Foundation Concert Oct. 1 at Daily's Place. The Wednesday and Thursday pro-ams have sold out every year since 2021 and hospitality venues such as Club 58 and Cabanas on 17 have been near sell-outs.
