Duck’s Breath Mystery Theater launches YouTube channel
A legendary comedy troupe formed in Iowa City has launched a YouTube page featuring some of their classic sketches. Ducks’ Breath Mystery Theater formed in Iowa City in 1975 before moving to San Francisco the next year. The group has created such popular characters as Dr. Science, Randee of the Redwoods, Ian Shoales and others. Dr. Science was a staple on National Public Radio and had an eponymous television show that ran for eight episodes on Fox, Randee of the Redwoods was a spokesman for MTV in the late 1980’s who ran a mock campaign for president in 1988, and Ian Shoales was a fake pundit who appeared frequently on Nightline and is considered a precursor to The Colbert Report.

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center is seeing more people give up their pets but that shelter is already so full. Devon Strief, Animal Service Officer for Iowa City Animal Care & Adoption Center said they can’t keep up with the pace of people surrendering their animals. In May 2022 they took in 51 dogs and so far this month they’ve already taken in 62.

Ped Mall bricks repurposing project to make bricks available for sale
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Iowans will soon be able to buy bricks that were once located in Iowa City’s Downtown Pedestrian Mall. Chipotle Announces A New Corridor Location
Fans of burrito bowls, chips and salsa, and guacamole will be happy to learn that a new Chipotle location has been confirmed in the Corridor. The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that the new Chipotle location will be in Coralville, just off of Coral Ridge Avenue, at 3260 Redhawk Street. It will be located next to Redhawk Dental Care and across the street from Jersey Mike's Subs and Foundry Food and Tap. A new Barrel House restaurant location is also expected to open in that area this spring as well. The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports that the Chipotle building will be mostly brick and will also feature an outdoor patio. It will also have a drive-thru, but that will be for picking up online orders only. The Gazette reports that the new location will only offer online order pickup and there will not be an ordering station or menu present.

Owners of H Bar fined after reportedly breaking agreement with city of Iowa City
The owners of an Iowa City bar that has been the source of multiple police calls have been fined after they allegedly broke an agreement with the city. Last December the owners of H Bar on South Van Buren Street agreed under a temporary injunction to close by 2am and allow Iowa City police officers to enter the bar to perform community care functions anytime the establishment is open to the public.
