New York Knicks guard Josh Hart (3) walks off the floor after losing in Game 7 of the second round of the 2024 NBA playoffs against the Indiana Pacers

Game 7 is in the books and once again the New York Knicks failed to topple the Indiana Pacers. Indiana ran away with this game , eliminating their big city rivals, 130-109. This makes three consecutive playoff series the Pacers have won over the Knicks.

In 2013, the Pacers defeated the Knicks in six games, advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals. And back in 2000, the Pacers knocked off the Knicks in another six-game battle – this one in the ECF – to advance to the NBA Finals.

These organizations have squared off in the postseason three times in the past 24 years with Indiana completing the trifecta Sunday. If we look even further back, Indiana eliminated New York in 1995 and 1998, both times in the semifinals.

However, the Knicks did get a little revenge in 1999 when they knocked out the Pacers in six games, led by Latrell Sprewell on that magical run to the NBA Finals. That Eastern Conference Finals victory represents the last time the Knicks advanced to the NBA Finals.

The era doesn’t matter, other than a couple of times in the early 90s, this Pacers franchise has pretty much owned the Knicks going back to 1995. They are 5-1 since the 1995 postseason against the Knicks. New York was able to eliminate Indiana in 1993 and 1994 but since then Indiana has dominated this rivalry.
