On April 6, Octavio Ruiz Muñoz Jr. of Granby lost his life after a car accident. The 11-year-old was in the car with his family when it went off the road in Clear Creek County. He went by the nickname Junior and was a sixth grader at East Grand Middle School. Junior was “was known for being happy; he always had a smile on his face,” his family wrote in his obituary.
1 dead, 2 hurt in crash on Colorado's Berthoud Pass
One person died in a crash on Berthoud Pass (U.S. Highway 40) along the Clear Creek County portion of the highway on Friday afternoon. According to Colorado State Patrol, it was a head-on crash that caused the closure. One person was killed, and two people were rushed to the hospital with injuries. Both directions were closed between Winter Park and Empire for around 5 hours before returning to normal traffic around 8:30 p.m. What happened leading up to the crash is being investigated. On the Colorado Department of Transportation camera, snow was falling in the area, and the roads were wet. The identity of the victim who died and the two taken for hospital treatment were unknown on Friday night.

A forensic pathologist testified in the murder trial of a former Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office deputy Tuesday that the victim died from multiple gunshot wounds and that the manner of death was homicide. Meredith Frank found five bullets in Christian Glass' torso.
