Colorado man arrested for firing gun into other car's windshield during road rage
Law enforcement converged on a vehicle in Clear Creek Canyon following a road rage incident Friday and arrested a 21-year-old man who allegedly fired a gunshot into a car's windshield. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office and Golden Police Department personnel stopped the suspect vehicle near Tunnel 1 at mile marker 269. Traffic through the canyon was shut down for 15 minutes as they made the arrest.Corey Abeyta was taken into custody and handed over to Gilpin County deputies. New club-inspired restaurant opens at Boulder Broker Inn
A new club-inspired restaurant and bar has opened at the Rodeway Inn & Suites Boulder Broker hotel. The Boulder Swim Club, 555 30th St., aspires to be a space for food, drink, games and fun in the sun. The restaurant opened for business earlier this year, but the hotel’s outdoor swimming pool, which is undergoing renovations, is slated to reopen by graduation weekend in May. Once the pool opens, there will also be an outdoor pool bar with poolside service where hotel guests and the public can sip ice-cold drinks on scorching hot summer days.
City of Boulder approves plan for Boulder Shelter for the Homeless to operate 24 hours a day
The City of Boulder’s Planning and Development Services Department has approved a new management plan for Boulder’s largest shelter, the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless, allowing it to operate 24 hours a day and increase its capacity from 160 to 180 people. Currently, the shelter is closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents have said the current schedule makes it harder to get jobs with irregular hours, among other challenges.
South Boulder Road lane closures to start Friday
Drivers should expect to see lane closures on South Boulder Road near 55th Street starting at 7 a.m. Friday so workers can replace a culvert under the road. South Boulder Road is expected to be reduced to one lane in each direction while work is going on. The project is estimated to be completed by 5 p.m. on April 5, according to a county press release.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board has recommended that the Boulder City Council enact a program that would provide free swim lessons for young Boulderites. The suggestion follows a year with three people drowning in Boulder Creek, including a 9-year-old boy. Right now, swim lessons are available at the North and East Rec Centers, but the fee stands in the way of some Boulder residents getting their kids the skill that could someday save their life. The classes are also booked out.
