Hikers find body in rugged terrain near 11,946-foot peak in Colorado

Mapping from the National Weather Service indicates that more hazardous weather could be coming to parts of Colorado during upcoming days. The forecasting service's mapping shows that hazardous heat may be present in much of the Eastern Plains region from July 28 to July 31. Two separate wildfires sparked at Rocky Mountain National Park, officials say
Two small wildfires sparked in Rocky Mountain National Park this week, both of which have since been contained per a July 24 report. Both fires were located in the park's Wild Basin area, with one being a 0.25-acre blaze near the Sandbeach Lake Trailhead and the second being a 0.10-acre blaze on the eastern side of Lookout Mountain. No structures were threatened by either fire. It's also worth noting that no trail closures are in place. That said, Wild Basin Road is closed through July 26 due to an unrelated improvement project – though Sandbeach Lake Trail is not impacted by that closure. A hiker was rescued via helicopter on Pitkin County's East Maroon Trail on the afternoon of July 23.
