Hutto baseball player Julian Maese voted Austin-area Boys Athlete of the Week

Hutto baseball player Julian Maese, who pitched all eight innings and went 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs in the Hippos' 6-5 win over Weiss in extra innings, was voted the Covert Chevrolet Bastrop Austin-Area Boys Athlete of the Week for April 22-27.

Maese received 49.4% of the vote. Pflugerville baseball player Ayden Bradley, Hays baseball player Adriano Fernandez, Lake Travis pitcher Kadyn Leon and Westwood pitcher Ridge Morgan also were candidates. Round Rock distance runner Kebede Kerlin won the previous poll, for April 15-20 .

The American-Statesman will have a weekly vote for Boys Athlete of the Week and Girls Athlete of the Week throughout the academic year.
