'All for the kids': Garland Elementary crossing guard retires after 22 years
GARLAND — Lanise Hall is an institution at Garland Elementary School — so much so that her presence predates the school itself by a decade. Responding to a help wanted ad in the local newspaper, Hall became a crossing guard at Garland Elementary during the 2001-02 school year. When the school moved into its new building in 2011, Hall moved with it, helping kids adjust to their new surroundings with her reliable presence, ever-smiling face and unrelenting words of encouragement.
