Stacey Von Busch works to improve arts in the greater Green Bay area
Most people familiar with the local arts scene know Stacey Von Busch. Since moving to the Green Bay area in 2012, she has been an accomplished artist, one of the founders of the local nonprofit Sage and, for the past few years, executive director of the Pulaski Area Chamber of Commerce. Although her siblings chose conventional careers, she said she has always been somewhat unconventional. “In my family I am the jack of all trades,” Von Busch said. “I have been wandering throughout my life.” She spent the first 15 years of her life in Nebraska where she was raised in a family of farmers. Her grandmother influenced an early love of the arts. “She was always putting some sort of art supply in front of me like paints or a sewing machine,” she said. “I took to the sewing machine.” She was a creative person at heart. Yet, as her family moved to Iowa and she graduated from high school, Von Busch felt unsettled. She started college in Iowa, transferred to a school in Montana, and finally graduated from Concordia University with a degree in psychology and behavioral science. With that degree, she chose a traditional career and spent

68-year-old engineering firm buys former U.S. Venture HQ | Exclusive
A 68-year-old Kaukauna engineering firm purchased the former U.S. Venture Inc. building in Kimberly to serve as a new headquarters amid strong growth. Baisch Engineering , via the company Baisch Properties LLC, on June 22 purchased the 13-acre campus and office building at 425 Better Way, in Kimberly, for more than $9.9 million, according to Outagamie County property records. Commercial property listings indicate the site was listed for $16 million. The 59,000-square-foot office building originally built for U.S. Venture will provide the engineering firm with more space for its growing workforce of 120 people. Baisch expects to move into its new space sometime in September. Up until now, the company has expanded its original offices at 809 Hyland Ave. when it needed more space, increasing the building to about 15,000 square feet. But Baisch President Todd Van Gompel said it could no longer expand the Hyland Avenue site and last year set out to find a new home. "We’re excited. We’ve been part of the Kaukauna community for 68 years. We’re excited to stay in the neighborhood. We're just excited about about the future and the things we can accomplish in the building," Van Gompel said. Here's what to know.

Oshkosh buys High Ave. properties for Grand Opera House expansion
OSHKOSH – The show must go on! The city has taken another step toward to the $16 million expansion of The Grand Opera House after finally buying a pair of neighboring properties at 114 and 118 High Ave. for just over $824,000 combined. Common Council unanimously approved both acquisitions during a special June 29 meeting, with Deputy Mayor Karl Buelow abstaining due to his role as director of development at The Grand Oshkosh. The vote brings a final resolution to years of discussion between the city and the owners of the vacant 118 High Ave. lot, which once was the site of Gunderson Cleaners. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has an ongoing environmental case for the property as the former site of a dry cleaner but the resolution states that the seller is “considered the responsible party by the DNR.” Oshkosh also obtained the site of Thompson Photo Imagery after agreeing to purchase the 114 High Ave. property for $200,000 and pay the owners $166,275 to relocate the business. “It’s a tidy sum of money but sometimes it’s just the way things work, and this is what has to happen for us to get the property to pull off
