Hornell street sweeping set to begin, parking restrictions in place

HORNELL, N.Y. ( WETM ) — Hornell residents will need to be mindful of when they park on the street when street sweeping begins next week.

According to the City of Hornell , the city’s street sweeper will begin cleaning the streets overnight on May 5 (Sunday going into Monday). The street sweeper will be cleaning the streets of each ward the night before garbage collection day.

On-street parking will not be allowed from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. in wards that have trash pick-up scheduled for the next day. So, if your garbage day is Tuesday, don’t leave your car on the street on Monday night.

According to the city, the parking restriction will remain in place through early fall regardless of refuse pickup, holidays, or street sweeping schedule modifications.

The Hornell Police Department will be ticketing vehicles left on the street overnight during the parking prohibition.
