Former Wildcat Givens visits Hopkinsville
Hopkinsville rolled out the big blue carpet for former University of Kentucky basketball star Jack Givens on Tuesday. Givens spoke to Hopkinsville Rotarians Tuesday afternoon and said he thought former Kentucky coach John Calipari needed a new challenge when he left the Wildcats for Arkansas earlier in the spring. However, he said he hopes Wildcats fans will remember that Calipari brought respect back to the program during his 15 years in blue.

Foster Leads Hoptown Golfers at Thursday Outing at Boots
Wade Foster continued his strong start to the 2024 golf season for the Hopkinsville Tigers, leading the team once again Thursday at the Trigg County Invitational. Foster shot a 9-over par 80 to finish just outside the top 30 at Boots Randolph Golf Course at Lake Barkley State Resort Park.
CCHS, UHA volleyballers head to BGSG
A pair of local high school volleyball teams are preparing to play in the Bluegrass State Games this weekend in Lexington. The Christian County Lady Colonels, who are led by Coach Sam Self, begin play on Friday at Tates Creek High School. The Lady Colonels are scheduled to play Paintsville at 1 p.m. and Central Hardin at 2 p.m. local time. Their game time Saturday will be determined by their Friday results.
Tigers, Blazers golfers play at Marshall
The Hopkinsville High School and University Heights Academy boys’ golf teams competed Tuesday in the Marshall County Invitational. Wade Foster led Hopkinsville with a 79 and Ryan Martin carded an 84. Others scoring for the Tigers were Henry Riggs (99) and Sam Riggs (110). Hoptown’s team score was 372.

Hickman County’s Katie Abernathy was the only golfer to put a red number on the board at Wednesday’s Trigg County Invitational at Boots Randolph Golf Course. Warren’s Even-Par Round Leads Owensboro to Trigg Invitational Title
Nolan Warren’s round of even par led Owensboro to the team title at Thursday’s Trigg County Invitational played at Lake Barkley’s Boots Randolph Golf Course. Warren edged Marshall County’s Ryan Stokes by one shot to claim the individual title, helping the Red Devils to a team score of 295. They finished four shots ahead of McCracken County and Marshall County.
