Hopewell man shot multiple times, later dies at local hospital

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — A Hopewell man has died after being shot multiple times Monday afternoon.

Just before 3 p.m. on Monday, May 13, officers with the Hopewell Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Edward Bland Court for report of a person shot.

When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found 40-year-old James Larrelle Thomas of Hopewell with multiple gunshot wounds.

According to police, Thomas was taken to the local Tri-Cities Hospital for treatment, where he later died.

This shooting is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact Lead Detective Shawn Grant of the Hopewell Criminal Investigations Unit at 804-541-2284.
