The Matadors, who entered in a three-way tie for third atop the conference standings, also had a nine-game winning streak snapped by the ‘Bows.

Hawaii, which extended its winning streak to six games, did so behind five perfect innings from Alex Giroux in relief. After Sebastian Gonzalez allowed six hits and an earned run in four innings, Giroux earned the win with eight strikeouts, retiring all 15 hitters he faced.

Offensively, Jordan Donahue had a game-high two hits and three RBI.

The Rainbow Warriors and Matadors resume their series on Saturday at 6:35 p.m.
