MARIETTA — A burger and cheesesteak restaurant headed by award-winning chef Todd Ginsberg is coming to Marietta Square. Two Bells Meats will take the place of outgoing restaurant Boru Ramen and Poke Bar at 154 Roswell Street, just off South Park Square near The Marietta Local. The shop’s menu includes homemade cheesesteaks, burgers and hand-cut fries. “The menu is super simple,” Ginsberg said. “We’re definitely a meat-centric restaurant.” Two Bells Meats is scheduled to open sometime before Thanksgiving, according to Ginsberg. The chef plans to bring his own unique flavors and twists to the classic offerings. Sandwiching the cheesesteak together will be two pieces of a sesame baguette, and customers can top their sandwiches with either pickled cherry pepper or roasted long hots, or Italian roasted hot peppers. Each burger will feature nine ounces of Angus beef ribeye that can be served in a variety of grinds, depending on the customers’ preferences. Given the cheesesteak’s tie to Philadelphia, the name Two Bells Meats comes from two inspirations: the Liberty Bell and the various church bells heard around Marietta Square, according to Ginsberg, who will serve as chef partner at his newest establishment. “When you think of Philly, I think of

French eatery poised to replace Sugar Cakes Patisserie

MARIETTA — A new French restaurant is poised to replace Sugar Cakes Patisserie on Marietta Square. The restaurant, Bistro Beau Garcon, will be a "casual French bistro," chef Michael Fuller told the Marietta Historic Board of Review Monday. Fuller is the executive chef and co-owner of Mac's Raw Bar and Mac's Chophouse. He said the new restaurant goes back to his roots as a chef. "It's a very personal project for me. Bistro Beau Garcon, 'Beau Garcon' means 'beautiful baby boy' or 'sweet baby boy,' which is what I've called my son all his life. So it's kind of a love note to my son." Fuller told the Journal he is still working out the final details for the restaurant and is not yet ready to share more info. He said he aims to open by Valentine's Day and renovations will include a refresh of the space. The Historic Board of Review approved the request for a new sign and the addition of six windows on the upper floor of the building, located at 101 North Park Square. A longtime eatery on the Lawrenceville Square is moving? A bakery/coffee shop may be going in the Lawrenceville Train Depot? There’s a lot happening in the heart of Lawrenceville. After the Metro Atlanta Redevelopment Summit concluded last week, Lawrenceville City Manager Chuck Warbington gave the Daily Post a tease of some redevelopment that is happening in the city’s downtown and depot districts. One bit of redevelopment is actually a relocation. Blue Rooster Bake Shop and Eatery is planning to move off the Lawrenceville Square and head a couple of blocks up North Clayton Street to a new location in the Depot District. Blue Rooster has been on the square, directly across from the north entrance to the Gwinnett County Historic Courthouse, for years, but that will change in the not too distant future. The bakery is currently renovating an old business space at the corner of North Clayton and Born Streets with plans to move into that location once the renovations are finished. “They’ve torn all of the stuff off the sides of the building,” Warbington said. “It looks like a shed now but they’re actually going to be upgrading that. Walmart breaks ground on massive Georgia facility

Walmart has begun construction on a new supply chain facility in Carnesville that store executives say will create faster shipping and delivery of its products. A groundbreaking was recently held at the site for the $1.3 billion facility that is expected to create 1,000 jobs for northeast Georgia. A spokesman for Walmart said Wednesday that construction on the 1.5 million-square-foot facility is expected to conclude in 2029, but a timetable has not been set for the hiring of employees. A groundbreaking ceremony included Walmart executives, local elected officials, and others at the site was dedicated in Franklin County near the I-85 corridor. Walmart executives have reported the facility “will combine advanced automation and technology with Walmart associates to increase fulfillment capacity, improve efficiency and help get online orders to customers faster.” The center is an effort by Walmart to transform its supply chain, the store reported. The Georgia Governor’s Office announced in August that Walmart had decided to locate the new plant in northeast Georgia. Walmart and Sam’s Club have 209 stores in Georgia.
