A good Samaritan was seriously injured Wednesday night while trying to help a pickup truck driver near Hartwell. According to state troopers, a Chevy Avalanche traveling south on GA 8 attempted to turn onto Elizabeth Road and lost part of its load. A Toyota 4-Runner northbound on GA 8 struck Ray Burt of Hartwell, who had exited his vehicle and was standing in the roadway, helping the pickup truck driver clear the road.
