HOBBS, New Mexico (KMID/KPEJ) – The Hobbs Police Department is inviting first responders and citizens to attend its annual “Officer Down Memorial,” honoring those who lost their lives in the line of duty.

HPD said this event is a humbling opportunity to come together to recognize and remember the vitality of life, especially of those who gave their lives for others.

“When a police officer is killed, it’s not an agency that loses an officer, it’s an entire nation,” said ODMP Founder Chris Cosgriff.

The memorial is set to take place at 8am on Wednesday, May 15 in front of the Hobbs Police Department. Refreshments will follow the memorial in the HPD classroom.
