As a followup to last week’s walking tour (WSB coverage here) about SDOT‘s plan for Junction street changes when light rail arrives, the West Seattle Junction Association wants your thoughts on the plan. SDOT first circulated its concepts in a survey on which we reported in 2024. Seattle gas prices are finally falling. Here's how much

Seattle drivers are finally getting some relief from soaring gas prices. Why it matters: After months of pain at the pump , prices are heading down, though they're still well above last year's levels. By the numbers: Regular gas prices in Seattle ranged from $4.56 to $5.89 on Tuesday, per the GasBuddy app . Statewide, average gas prices have fallen 31 cents a gallon in the past month to $5.18, per AAA . That's still nearly 90 cents more than a year ago and $1.03 above the national average. Washington has among the highest gas prices in the country. The bottom line: It's not a bargain, but we'll take it.

Light Rail Brings Changes to Mercer Island

Since the Light Rail opened this March, Mercer Island has seen an increase in pedestrian traffic and changes in how police monitor and respond to activity around downtown MI. The Mercer Island Police Department has created a Town Center Officer Unit (TCO) to address light rail concerns, and coordinated with Sound Transit for station tours to familiarize officers with the layout. The City and Department determined at least two officers should focus on the downtown and the light rail station. The MIPD’s patrol strategy has remained mostly the same, however the TCO Unit reduces the size of the area needing that attention.
