Council told of car wreck that took out lift station
LOGAN — The city of Logan has spent considerable time, money and effort in upgrading its sewer and water system. At Tuesday night’s city council meetings, council members were told of another water-related expense the city is facing, whose size remains to be seen. City Service Director Bruce Walker reported that over the weekend a car crash had occurred around Industrial Park Drive, in which a vehicle hit and badly damaged a sewage lift station located there. “Saturday morning, we had a person in the industrial park down at the cul-de-sac, where there’s a lift station at the bottom, by the CIC off of Chieftain Drive,” Walker explained. “And that person hit the lift station so hard, she took the whole top off of it. So it’s totally wiped out. We’ve spent the last two days just getting it torn apart, and getting a temporary pump and a bypass in… We don’t know what that cost is going to be yet, but a lift station is not cheap, and there’s not too much left of it.” Logan Police responded to the incident, but transferred the case to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Athens Post, which had not yet completed a

Major traffic shifts coming to Chillicothe's North Bridge Street
Drivers on North Bridge Street will see major traffic pattern changes beginning Aug. 25 as the Ohio Department of Transportation moves into the next phase of its long-running Ohio 159 safety improvement project . The construction shift will allow crews to rebuild existing northbound lanes through the U.S. 35 interchange, according to a community announcement. During the phase, two northbound lanes will remain open as traffic is moved onto newly constructed concrete pavement that will eventually serve southbound Bridge Street. Motorists traveling north across the Scioto River who need to reach Shawnee Square, Nourse, Walmart or Kohl's will be directed to turn left at Stewart Drive. Traffic leaving Nourse, Walmart or Kohl's will travel around the roundabout, pass beneath the Scioto River bridge and access Bridge Street through Shawnee Square.
