Hendersonville Trash Service to Change This July

Trash service will be changing July 1st, 2024. The new service will be curbside, once-a week collection provided by Waste Pro. Medical exemptions are available for residents who can’t physically get their cans to the curb. There are also opportunities for residents to add-on to their base service with Waste Pro.

Background: The City’s current trash collection contract with Waste Pro will end on June 30, 2024. This was a five-year contract that kept collection costs lower than the actual rising costs for waste collection. As a result, new contract bid rates to provide the same service came in with significant, unsustainable costs.

Last fall the city gathered resident feedback on trash service via public meetings and survey. Hendersonville residents have a strong desire for cost-effective and consistent trash collection service. These priorities were used to create the new contract.

During a March Board of Mayor and Alderman (BOMA) meeting the board approved a resolution to enter into a new contract with Waste Pro.
