County deer advisory council to meet

The Sawyer County Deer Advisory Council (CDAC) will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday April 29 at the DNR Service Center large conference room on Hwy. 27 South in Hayward.

The public is invited to attend and give their input on topics including extended archery seasons and antlerless deer quotas. A virtual option is available on the DNR website.

The Council will review public input and make its final recommendations to the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board for the 2024 deer hunting seasons, including the holiday hunt, extended archery season and antlerless deer quotas for public and private land.

Current members of the Sawyer CDAC are Rick Olson (chairman) and Dan Tyrolt (alternate chairman) representing the Conservation Congress; James Kujala, DNR Forestry; Josh Spiegel, DNR Wildlife Management; Chad Ziegler, DNR Law Enforcement; Ed Peters, Urban representative; Deputy Darin Jensen, Transportation; Harold Treland, Tourism; Erik Schielke, Forestry; Brad Shinkle, Deer Management Advisory Program (DMAP); Michael Robers, Agriculture; and Michael Paul, Hunting/Conservation Club.
