Hattiesburg welcomed a new venture in fast food with the opening of a Golden Chick location, the second franchise in Mississippi.
The SXThree group that opened the first Mississippi location in Purvis will run the Hattiesburg location. SXThree is led by franchisees Jim Stevens, Scott Stevenson and Purvis resident Jason Graham, who own and operate 19 Golden Chick locations in the Southeast.
“Jim, Scott and Jason have and continue to do incredible things for our brand in terms of physical and operational growth,” Golden Chick CEO Mark Parmerlee said in a news release. “They truly make a formidable team, something that is demonstrated with the success of their restaurants."
The Hattiesburg location of Golden Chick also features a product from another local business, Grin Coffee Co., which is roasted in the Hub City at Grin's Broadway Drive location.
The coffee will be served daily during breakfast hours from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a selection of breakfast items that include Golden Supreme Breakfast Sandwich, three Breakfast Burritos and the Honey Butter Tender Roll. Both Pine Belt locations also offer Biscuits and Gravy, a Mississippi-only item.
“We are excited to continue our growth in Hattiesburg and the surrounding areas," Stevens said. " With our franchising team including a local Mississippi resident who is also retired military, we are proud to call Hattiesburg and this community home.”

Golden Chick is known for its crispy Golden Tenders, seasoned Golden Roast Chicken, hand-breaded Southern-Fried Catfish and freshly baked yeast rolls.
The restaurant is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.
