SPARTA, NJ – The Sparta VFW Memorial Day parade, ceremony and barbecue will go on rain or shine. According to VFW Post Commander Pete Litchfield only lightening would stop the parade, which is scheduled to step off at 10 a.m. The parade round will head down East Shore Trail, through White Deer Plaza, up Mohawk Avenue and finish at the Sparta Library.CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER A wreath laying ceremony is scheduled immediately following the parade at Dykstra Park. Bloomfield Memorial Day Parade Will Close Broad Street for Hours on Monday
BLOOMFIELD, NJ- whether you are coming to watch the parade, visiting friends or just running errands, be advised that Broad Street in Bloomfield will be closed on Monday, May 27 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the annual Bloomfield Memorial Day Parade. The parade kicks off at 9 a.m. at Broad Street and Bay Avenue and continues down Broad Street to Liberty Street. The Bloomfield Police Department asks that from 7-2 you please plan an alternate route and that all cars must be moved from Broad St. All vehicles that are not moved are subject to being issued a ticket and towed. Macy’s is opening what it calls a “small-format” store at a former Bed Bath & Beyond at the Interstate Shopping Center in Ramsey this Saturday. Welco Realty Inc., which represented the landlord in the deal, first announced last fall that the iconic clothing retailer will occupy 25,000 square feet at the former home goods store in Ramsey. Macy’s is joining ShopRite, DSW, Burlington, Michael’s and Old Navy.
Motorcyclist, 26, dies in crash yards from N.J. hospital
A motorcyclist died when he lost control of his bike near a North Jersey hospital Friday evening, according to police. Yeison Velasquez, 26, was riding on North Dean Street when he crashed in an area between Concord Street and Englewood Hospital in Englewood, police said. The crash was reported around 7:45 p.m.
