PATERSON, NJ - An arrest has been made in connection to the April 15 shooting that sent a Newark man to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center for treatment of non-fatal gunshot wounds. Caught In The Act: Nutley Police Arrest Would-Be Thief
NUTLEY, NJ - Proactive policing early Saturday morning led to the arrest of a man in the process of burglarizing a second vehicle. Officers of the Nutley Police Department were on a routine patrol early Saturday morning, when, at about 3:35 a..m, they observed something suspicious in the area of Franklin Ave. and Sargent St. - the interior light of a motor vehicle was illuminated. Wayne resident Javon McFadden, 36, was burglarizing the vehicle. This would have been the second vehicle he burglarized that night. McFadden was arrested and charged with burglary. Nutley Public Safety Commissioner Alphonse Petracco and Police Chief Thomas Strumolo issued a township advisory about the incident on Monday, April 22. Petracco said, "This was the third motor vehicle theft arrest in the past two weeks by Nutley officers. Although this is a problem throughout the state, Nutley is sending a clear message that this is not okay. The Chief and I have zero tolerance for thieves that feel they can commit crimes in this town and will continue proactive policing until our message is received." Bodycam footage shows the first officers arriving on scene at the K9 Resorts pet hotel in Fairfield, New Jersey at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday.They immediately went inside, without any equipment to help them breathe.
