HARVEY, ND ( KXNET ) — On April 18, Harvey Public Schools (HPS) announced that a recent referendum for a school bond did not pass.

With a total of 1,196 people who voted, 60% of voters were against the proposal in the district’s first bond vote since 1967.

The Superintendent of Harvey, Dr. Robert Lukens, thanked the voters and said “The voters have spoken… We will move forward as a district and continue to plan for the future.”

The plan would have cost $23.5 million dollars and was designed to unite the HPS K-12 facilities into one campus, enhancing security with a new entrance and safety systems as well as adding new elementary classrooms and a gymnasium.
