All Hartford Public Schools were placed in lockdown Friday morning following a reported threat.

According a letter sent to Hartford families by Superintendent Brad Geesaman, a community member called 911 around 9 a.m. about a reported threat toward Hartford Middle School. In response, all district buildings were placed in lockdown, and multiple law enforcement agencies were brought in.

Crews searched and investigated until approximately 10:35 a.m., when the lockdown was lifted.

Geesaman says no weapons or weapon-like objects were found.

According to Geesaman, the district also received reports of a threat by a student Thursday night. A law enforcement investigation determined there was no merit to the threat.

The district says anyone involved in making threats or false reports of threats will be disciplined according to school policy.

"We understand situations such as this are concerning to parents, students, and the community," Geesaman wrote. "We want you to be aware that the administration of Hartford Public Schools has exercised extreme diligence and taken all proper actions required by law and in the best interests of our students and faculty."

Geesaman encouraged families to talk to their students about Okay2Say , an app that allows them to confidentially report on criminal activities or potential harm directed at students, school employees, or schools.
