Shawnee's Ope Balogun excited to represent the Lima area again in National Spelling Bee
ALLEN COUNTY, OH (WLIO) - A Shawnee 8th grader is heading back to Washington, D.C., for her second straight trip to the national spelling bee. LIMA, OH (WLIO) - Mercy Health-Saint Rita's offering up a tasty thank you for their employees for National Hospital Week. Mercy Health is the largest employer in the area, and they will treat their 2,500 associates and volunteers to a meal in honor of Hospital Week. Luckily, the rain held off for a picnic at the medical center today.
U-Haul transforms old Kenton Kmart for new facility
KENTON — U-Haul is working to transform a building previously used as a Kmart. The building is located at 1005 E. Columbus St., Kenton. According to a press release, the property sits on 11 acres of land and was sold in February. The building will soon be utilized for moving and storage.
‘Fireworks’ at Ada Council Meeting!

Lima Council of the Whole discusses outside hires
LIMA — The Lima Council of the Whole decided to continue its discussion on the potential for outside hirings of future police and fire chiefs in a meeting Monday night. West Middle School students go on a fishing adventure thanks to the City of Lima and ODNR
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - It was all smiles as some lucky students from Lima's West Middle School took a fishing expedition. Several of these students have never had the chance to fish or ride in a boat, but that all changed today. It has become an annual event that the City of Lima's Park and Recreation and Utilities Department, along with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, provide for Allen County students. Rods, reels, wax worms, and instructions are provided for the kids to have a great experience. 7th and 8th graders even got the chance to go aboard a small boat and take a spin around Sertoma Pond in Faurot Park. The goal of the event is to teach the youngsters a new life skill.
