Minden, Iowa's request for FEMA funding following tornadoes approved
MINDEN, Iowa — The mayor of Minden, where two tornadoes have hit in less than two weeks, is asking for urgent help from the federal government. Damage assessments conducted by Pottawattamie County officials revealed more than $12 million worth of property damage in Minden alone. Around 90% of the town's business district and 40% of residential homes were completely destroyed after an EF-3 tornado hit on Friday, April 26.
The State Meet is Coming up Fast for the Quick Cyclones Track Team
(Harlan, IA) – Last week’s state-qualifying meet was a great success for the Harlan girl’s track and field team. The girls came into the meet with goals to make it to state of course, but also break their personal records and go out and compete to the top of their level. Head Coach Jenny Hamilton was more than proud of the effort that her girls displayed last Thursday and is looking forward to seeing what some of her girls will do at the state level.

A Battle All the Way to the End for Harlan Cyclone Tennis
(Harlan, IA) – It is all up from here for Harlan’s tennis teams after finishing up their season last week in boy’s and girl’s action. While the teams didn’t show this year’s improvements in the win column, it looked great out on the court and they competed with some top talent toward the end of the season. Both Thomas Kurtz and Teagon Bissen were able to pull in a win in the first round of district play in doubles action. Like their teammates, they only continued to improve all season long in the eyes of coaches Michael Rueschenberg and Dillon Stane.
