Good morning, Hanover! I'm ready for the long weekend!

Your Thursday Hanover weather forecast: A high of 82, low of 65. Partly sunny with a chance of a storm. 🌤️

One program note: In observance of Memorial Day, there will be no newsletter Monday morning. We'll be back Tuesday!

Let's dive into our top story for today...

🧇Taking the kids to Knoebels this summer? Here are some must-try foods available at the park

Remember when I said I'd write something up about my trip to Knoebels? Here y'all go!

There are two kinds of people: people who visit Knoebels for the rides, and those who visit it for the food.

I fall squarely in the latter category. Don't get me wrong, I love a good wooden roller coaster, but the food is what always brings me back.

The park is surprisingly still free to park at and enter, with visitors only paying for tickets to ride individual rides. In fact, Knoebels recently scored the number two position in a USA TODAY reader's choice vote for best theme park in the country.

What else you should know today:

🏐First round of district playoffs: Red Lion boys volleyball won over New Oxford to open up district playoffs, see photos here.

⛽High gas prices: Why are gas prices higher in the York/Adams area versus some other areas of PA? Teresa Boeckel has an answer here.

👟State track: Here's a preview of this weekend's state track championships. Good luck to our local athletes!

Things to do this weekend: The Hanover Memorial day parade!

    • Where: Downtown Hanover, from Carlisle and Chestnut Street down Baltimore Street to Mt. Olivet Cemetery
    • When: 8:30 a.m. on Monday, May 27

If there's one thing Hanover is definitely known for, it's parades!

The Memorial Day parade is always one of my favorite events to photograph every year. It is always a great showing of our community spirit and a great way to honor those who have sacrificed so much for our country!

Often, during the memorial service at Mt. Olivet, they fire howitzers, which is a super impressive sight.

    • Where: 2392 Grandview Road, Hanover
    • When: 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27

If any of y'all have feedback, pet photos, or questions, feel free to send them over to my email at hjones@gannett.com! I will do my best to answer any questions if I can, and I will be happy to highlight any comments y'all might have.

That's it for your Thursday Daily Briefing!
