Sample ballots available for June 18 election
Sample ballots are now available for the June 18 Primary Election and Special Elections. Voters can download a sample ballot using the State Election Board OK Voter Portal at oklahoma.gov/ elections/ovp or pick up a copy at the Okmulgee County Election Board during regular business hours.
Athletes Honored at OHS Sports Banquet
Okmulgee High School honored athletes last week at the OHS All-Sports Banquet and Awards program for the 2023-24 school year last week. Outstanding athletes, graduating seniors and others were recognized for their contribution. Awards were presented for both Girls and Boys Basketball, Slowpitch, Fastpitch, Baseball, Wrestling, Cheerleading, Tennis, Football, Cross Country and Track. Congratulations to all the players and coaches.
Pittsburg County sheriff arrested, charged with embezzlement following OSBI investigation
According to court documents, Morris purchased a 2023 Polaris utility vehicle for his personal use and later traded the Polaris for a different ATV. Morris then bought the Polaris for the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office. When the sheriff’s office purchased the Polaris, it was represented as a new vehicle to county officials to bypass state bidding requirements.
Mullen makes All-State baseball team
This week, the Oklahoma Baseball Coaches Association made public All-State teams for small classes (B-2A), middle classes (3A-4A), and large classes (5A6A). They will be divided into West and East teams and will play a game against the other on June 2 at David Allen Memorial Ballpark in Enid. Congratulations to Dewar High School’s Zach Mullen, first base, who is coached by coach Josh Killhoffer for his selection to the Small East squad. The team will play at 6 p.m. on June 2 in Enid. The Dewar Dragons Baseball team made it to the 2024 OSSAA State Baseball Tournament this year, and ended the season with an outstanding 26-3 record.
