City of Okmulgee completes former peanut factory site clean up, remedied land useable
OKMULGEE, Okla. − The City of Okmulgee, in partnership with the Oklahoma Department of Environment Quality and OXY (Occidental Petroleum Corporation), completed the clean up of a former Kist Peanut site in hopes someone will want to use it for light industry and bring more jobs to the community.

Lightning Strike Triggers Huge Oil Tank Explosion in Hughes County
A large explosion occurred in Hughes County as a result of a lightning strike, leading to the burning of three oil tank batteries. This was evidenced by photos showing columns of smoke and flames rising from the tanks, supplied by the local fire department.

EUFAULA: Sept. 15. Elevation is a foot below normal and stable, water temperature 76 degrees and stained. Largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass fair on crankbaits, jigs and plastic baits around main lake, points, riprap and rocks. Blue, channel and flathead catfish good on chicken liver, cut bait, dough bait, live bait, live shad and shad around channels, river channel and river mouth. Lady Knights edge out Eufaula 7-5
The Henryetta Lady Knights edged out Eufaula on Thursday with a 7-5 victory. It was a pitching battle throughout the game. Eufaula scored first in the second inning when Jadence Efurd hit a fielder’s choice that scored a run. Eufaula then scored again in the third inning when Kate Pippenger connected on a pitch for a single extending the lead 2-0.

Okemah City Council to hold special meeting
