Blanket ban: Masur’s excessive punishment
Residents should be able to study, sleep and relax in the place they call home without strangers wandering the hallways or noise breaking the quiet at all hours. For Masur residents, that has not always been the case. Fellow occupants and their visitors often interrupt studying and rob residents of sleep. ULM has acted, but the ban punishes the wrong people.

Student workers deserve parking spots
Many academic and administrative departments of ULM provide employment opportunities for students through both Federal Work-Study and Campus Work programs. Many offices around campus rely on student employees to serve as the face of their department. Behind the scenes, student workers carry out various demanding tasks that require focus, adaptability and diligence. Between assisting visitors, answering questions and completing other office responsibilities, these workers must learn to adjust quickly when necessary and remain reliable under pressure. These valuable roles do not come without additional challenges, such as limited parking options.

Parker Robinson sets Neville football's passing record as Tigers clinch district
MONROE — Parker Robinson has Neville High School’s all-time leading passing record with 6,789 yards. The senior quarterback and Louisiana-Monroe commit took the record, which belonged for over two decades to Robert Lane, during a scoring drive in which he totaled his fourth touchdown of the night, a 12-yard strike to sophomore Deuntra Schneatte, in the Tigers’ District 2-4A matchup against Tioga. Robinson and Schneatte also hooked up for an 80-yard score on Neville’s first offensive play of the game. After making back-to-back semifinals in Division I nonselect, Neville hasn’t missed a beat in its move to D-II nonselect this fall. It clinched the District 2-4A title following its 45-14 victory against Tioga on Friday, Oct. 30, at Mickey McCarty Field. “We’ve had a lot of ups and downs with this team, but I think the thing that separates us is just our chemistry and how close we are,” Robinson said. “We really are family. We fight like brothers; we compete like brothers every day. A good or bad play, we keep level-headed; we complement each other. For Cedar Creek, 8-0 start is something 'never experienced before'
RUSTON — It isn’t a surprise for the Cedar Creek Cougars to be where they are now. Before second-year coach Jacob Angevine took over the program, there were multiple coaching changes over the past several seasons and the Cougars were coming off a 1-9 campaign in 2024. LHSAA football: 4 storylines to watch for Week 9 in the Monroe area But Angevine has never seen Creek as a 1-9 team . After going 6-5 last fall, the Class 1A No. 9 Cougars are continuing to take the next step in their program with an undefeated 8-0 mark so far in 2026. “That has a lot to do with the coaching staff and Coach Angevine,” senior Brett Bell said of the team’s success. “He’s upgraded the program, not only from a football standpoint, but (from the) outside. He’s centered around Jesus, and that’s what we need. That’s the standard of the program that we’re building.” "It's truly just special with my senior year starting 8-0," Trigger Woodard said. "It's amazing, something I've never experienced before. It's a great feeling. It makes you excited."
