(KNOE) - Week nine of the high school football season sees the Rayville Hornets win the Little Caesars Team of the Week.Head Coach Lynn Middleton led his Hornets to take down Ferriday 24-18 in a pivotal playoff pushing win.Rayville beat out Jonesboro-Hodge and St. Frederick to be named Team of the Week. The honor marks a dramatic turnaround for a program building postseason momentum after finishing 1-9 just a year ago. Middleton and his coaching staff told players weeks ago to adopt a playoff mentality early.“Yeah, these guys know what’s on the line every week,” Middleton said. “And we told them, what, two weeks ago, our playoffs start now. And we basically play till we lose. So they know what’s on the line. And I think our guys are finally starting to see a little bit of the success and a little bit of the things that go along with success.”Hornets running back Malik Potts credited the turnaround to the team’s resilience and the unwavering backing of the local community.“Coming from like 1 and 9 to like now, just the community and their believing is like staying with us, everybody,” Potts said. “Then I feel like I ain’t satisfied though. We got in the playoffs, that was our goal.”With playoff positioning secured, the Hornets now prepare to carry that postseason mindset into their next matchup against Delhi Charter.</div></body>
