    Lavaca County cities consider several million dollars in bonds

    Lavaca County residents have several elections across the county.

    In Hallettsville, voters are reviewing and voting on several bonds for the city. Hallettsville ISD considers Proposition A, a $1.8 million school bond for safety and security including cameras, door access readers, sensors and generators. Proposition B considers the issuance of a $9.325 million bond for the renovations and additions to the junior high school, which adds additional renovations to the athletic areas and HVAC upgrades. Proposition C is a $28.245 million school bond for the renovations of school buildings including a new gymnasium/multipurpose facility and renovations to the baseball, softball fields and athletic facilities. Also on the ballot for Hallettsville is a proposition of a $6 million bond for street and utility improvements.

    Unofficial results from the Hallettsville ISD show 1,101 ballots cast for the three ISD propositions. Proposition A passes with 693 ballots cast for the $1.8 million bond. Proposition B a $9.325 million bond also passes with 687 votes for the proposition. Proposition C a $28.245 million bond aimed at new school buildings fails with 606 ballots cast against the bond.

    Hallettsville's city bond of $6 million, passes with 256 voted in favor of a bond aimed at street and utility improvements.

    In the city of Moulton voters will review and vote on a proposition for the reauthorization of the local sales and tax in the city, at the rate of one-half of one percent, to continue providing revenue for maintenance and repair of municipal streets.

    Unofficial results show Moulton's proposition passes with 41 votes for and only 8 votes against.

    In Shiner a City Councilperson race where voters can select one, two or three of the following candidates, Alois “Louis” Herman, Stephan Patek, Gun Jaehne, Sonya Sembera Lovejoy, Brady Brown and Joseph (Joey) Gamez.

    In the Shiner City Councilperson race, Gus Jaehne leas with 120 votes, following is Joseph (Joey) Gamez with 103 votes, Brady Brown with 89 votes, Alois “Louis” Herman 79 votes, Sonya Sembera Lovejoy with 73 votes and  Stephan Patek with 70 votes.

    In the City of Yoakum residents will vote on two City Councilmember places. For Place 2 three candidates face off, Jay Cassell, Daniel Driskeli and Glen Klander. In the race for Place 4 is John S. Pelech, Vanita L. Cheeves and Mitchell Franz.

    Unofficial election results in the Yoakum show 374 total votes, 208 election day votes and 166 early votes. For City Councilmember Place 2 Daniel Driskell leads with 165 votes, following behind is Jay Cassell with 147 votes and Glenn Klander with 36 votes.

    In Place 4 race, Mitchell Franz leads with 166 votes, followd by Vanita L. Cheeves with 102 votes and John S. Pelech with 77 votes.

    And in Home Sweet voters will consider and vote on one proposition. Proposition A, a $6 million bond for the construction, acquisition, rehabilitation, renovation, expansion, and equipment of school buildings of the elementary and middle schools.
