Melba Lucile Hauser

December 20, 1936 to May 6, 2024 - Long time Gresham resident, Melba Hauser, died peacefully in her sleep Monday morning, May 6th, with her husband of nearly 68 years, Harold, near at hand—she was 87.

Melba arrived in Gresham in 1977 when Harold became a dean at MHCC. Melba was soon teaching math at Dexter McCarty and Gordon Russell middle schools, where she remained until she retired.

Melba was an active and engaged member of several United Methodist churches in the area, playing many roles at each. She loved singing and participated in church and community choirs throughout her life.

Melba is survived by her husband Harold; children Janice, Tammie, Allen and Jeff; grandchildren Jamie, Gareth, Duncan, Nick, Rebecca, Hali, Josh, and Tristan; step-grandson Jake; and great granddaughters Daisy and Violet.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:30 pm on Saturday May 18 at Faith United Methodist Church, 27400 SE Stark St. Troutdale.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church.
