The attic of Timberline Lodge caught fire Thursday night, April 18, leading to a multi-agency response to douse the flames and protect the historic building.

Around 9:30 p.m. reports were made of flames and smoke spotted near the roofline of the lodge, located on Mount Hood. Fire crews from Hoodland Fire, Clackamas Fire, Gresham Fire and Estacada Fire responded to protect the building.

Firefighters were able to knock down the blaze and preserve the historic assets.

No one was trapped within the building or injured during the fire. Employees of the lodge were the first to discover the flames and call 911.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and U.S. Forest Service. The lodge and ski area were closed Friday, April 19, as the damage is assessed.
