    Roaches crawling on the kitchen floor & more in Upstate restaurants with worst April inspections

    South Carolina health inspectors found multiple violations at restaurants in the Upstate in April, from roaches crawling on a kitchen floor to washed dishes still with food debris on them. The state each month releases grades and inspection reports for food establishments across Upstate counties.

    Here are the restaurants that received some of the lowest ratings in April.

    Pho Your Choice at 2660 Reidville Road in Spartanburg

    Pho Your Choice had an inspection on April 15 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed roaches crawling on the floor and behind the oven in the kitchen.

    Frozen chicken was seen thawing in a bust tub on the floor. Meat was seen stored in grocery bags in the freezer. A buildup of grease was seen underneath the fryer and oven. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on April 25 and got a B grade.

    Epic Buffet of East Bank at 3940 Grandview Drive in Greenville

    Epic Buffet had an inspection on April 18 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed an employee was a cutting board and knife at a utility sink without sanitizer. Also observed was salmon used for sushi when it was marked for cooked consumption only.

    Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Certain foods were seen not allowed to cool properly. A heavy buildup of grime was seen on the floors in the kitchen and dry storage areas.

    The restaurant had required followup inspections on April 23 and May 1 and earned two more C grades.

    Tarascos Mexican Bar and Grill at 6119 White Horse Road in Greenville

    Tarascos Mexican Bar and Grill had an inspection on April 1 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed packages of beef and pork thawing on a rolling cart in the kitchen area.

    An employee was seen eating food with his bare hands while on the cook line. Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Pans of shucked oysters were seen stacked on top of each other in the walk-in cooler without protective layers between them to prevent possible contamination. Grime buildup was seen on shelves.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on April 11 and got an A grade.

    Touchdown wing and Hibachi at 1400 W Georgia Road in Greenville

    Touchdown wing and Hibachi had an inspection on April 24 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed raw chicken stored above ready to eat food in the prep cooler.

    Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Medication was seen stored on shelves with food items. Plastic grocery bags were seen used to store food. Hood filters were seen with an accumulation of grease and oil.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on May 3 and got an A grade.

    Tasty Greenwood at 1711 Bypass 72 in Greenwood

    Tasty Greenwood had an inspection on April 29 and got a C grade.

    An inspector observed fish being stored in standing water. Also observed was the back door propped open with no fly fan.

    Certain foods were seen not kept at proper holding temperatures. Washed dishes still had accumulations of leftover food debris.

    The restaurant had a required followup inspection on May 3 and got another C grade. A second followup inspection has not yet been held.
