Chip and Mandy Whitaker, residents of Greenville, are the proud owners of Whitaker Drugs, a local pharmacy located at 750 Willow Lane. Describing their business as a locally owned, hometown pharmacy, the Whitakers aim to create a family-like atmosphere for their customers.

“It’s our family serving yours,” Mandy said. “We treat every patient like they’re our children or our mother or grandmother. This is how we put food on our table, so we are sincerely glad that you’re here. We are so thankful for the support of our community, and we want everyone to leave with a smile.”

The self-described “mom and pop” pharmacy provides medication management, medical equipment, and financial planning for Medicare patients. Now, the Whitakers are enhancing their community commitment by offering free medication delivery anywhere in the county.

“We’ve been doing some deliveries already, but we haven’t really promoted it. We wanted to wait until we got established,” Chip said. “This is why we wanted to open our own business. There’s no layers of corporate decision-makers. It allows us to make the best decisions for our patients.”

Operating a pharmacy in Camden since 2017, the Whitakers recognized the unique needs of many rural residents and sought a solution.

“For a lot of rural Alabama residents, for various reasons; either they’re elderly and can’t drive, or they’re too sick to drive, whatever it may be, people are paying to have someone go get their medication or drive them into town. A lot of people were going without medications,” Mandy explained. “We wanted to help make sure those people have access to the medications that they need.”

Those wishing to establish services at Whitaker Drugs or those with questions about medication delivery can contact the pharmacy at 334-245-5556.
