Wagon Wheel desserts now available at new location

The long-standing Wagon Wheel Restaurant on Route 22 in Greensburg closed last year, but you can still enjoy their dessert.

Mimi Kaufman tells KDKA Radio she is now selling the cakes out of a new location just about 100 feet away from the Wagon Wheel.

Wagon Wheel Red Cake is now open at 6904 Route 22.

In addition to the famous Red Cake, Mimi is now making the Gob and White Raspberry cakes.

While red velvet cakes have gained popularity in recent years, Mimi’s red cake goes back to the early 80s.

Her grandparents started the Wagon Wheel. Her father then took over and after his passed away a few years ago, her sister took over the restaurant.

After her sister decided she wanted to retire, Mimi decided to keep the cake-baking part of the Wagon Wheel alive.

Anyone who wants to get their hands on the famous cake can call 724-468-8189. If no one picks up, Mimi says she will call you back.

She says she needs at least a days’ notice and for holidays, allow for a week.

All cakes go for $30 and only cash or personal check are accepted at this time.
