South Shore high school football playoff scores and top performers
It feels like the season just started, but the MIAA high school football playoffs are here. There was disappointing news earlier this week that Gillette Stadium will not host the Super Bowls due to scheduling issues, but that will all be forgotten once the games kick off on Thursday. Led by three defending state champions - Scituate (Division 4), Cohasset (Div. 7) and Randolph (Div. 8) - the South Shore will be represented by 22 teams in the playoffs. There are two games that pit area teams against each other, both in Div. 3. No. 3 Marshfield will host No. 14 Silver Lake in a rematch of a game from a month ago. No. 8 Milton will host No. 9 Hingham in what could be one of the most competitive games of the weekend. YOUR VIEW: Parking plan ‘deserves more scrutiny’
Apparently, Plymouth has a parking problem. The proposed solution is to pave more of the town. According to the Plymouth Independent, the town is considering a $1.2 million to $1.5 million project to expand parking behind Nathaniel Morton Elementary School from 60 spaces to 150. The project would add nearly 10,000 square feet of pavement and provide free public parking outside school hours. Officials describe it as a “win-win.”

Vandals damage Memorial Field, football game tonight still on
The Green Wave football team will run down the steps onto Memorial Field tonight despite damage to the field caused by vandals over the weekend. Tire tracks remain visible across the grass playing surface, including the big white A at midfield. But the field remains playable and will be the site for tonight’s Round 1 playoff game against Wilmington.
