GREEN BAY - A familiar face on WBAY-TV’s “Action 2 News This Morning” is departing.

Anchor and traffic reporter Kathryn Bracho announced on social media Tuesday she is leaving the morning show she has been a part of since 2006. Her last day on the air will be Friday.

"It'll be hard to leave this wonderful place and the INCREDIBLE people in it, but I feel really excited about my next move. We'll talk more about it on Friday morning," Bracho wrote on her Facebook page .

She also provided an update to clarify the decision to leave was her choice and she is not going to another TV station. She also does not know plans for her replacement, she wrote.

Bracho, who grew up in the Twin Cities in Minnesota, has been with WBAY for 21 years. After broadcast stops early in her career in Alexandria, Minnesota, and Eau Claire, she was hired as a reporter in WBAY’s Fox Valley newsroom in 2003. She was promoted to an anchor of “Action 2 News This Morning” in 2006 and currently works alongside news anchors Tammy Elliott, Aisha Morales and Emerson Lehmann, who was hired in December, and chief meteorologist Steve Beylon.

Her colleagues were among the nearly 500 people to leave comments of how much she will be missed and well wishes for what comes next. Many mentioned her cheerful smile.

Beylon wasn't above old-fashioned bribery to perhaps get her to change her mind. "What if I brought in chocolate for you every morning for the rest of your career at WBAY? Would you stay then?" he wrote. "Tempting, but no," Bracho responded.

Her departure follows Kevin Rompa's retirement in 2021 after 32 years as WBAY's original morning anchor. Morales moved over to "Action 2 News This Morning" a month later, after five years as the weekend morning anchor.
