BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — The Grand Forks Red Lobster is one of at least 48 locations nationwide that have abruptly closed or are closing.

The other two restaurants in North Dakota — Bismarck and Fargo — remain open.

The local web page for the Grand Forks store lists its hours of operation as “closed.”

It is also among the locations that TAGeX Brands, a restaurant supply liquidator, is auctioning off kitchen equipment from this week.

For the Grand Forks auction listing , the bidding is for the complete contents at the location — equipment, furniture and more.

In April, it was reported Red Lobster was considering bankruptcy, but company officials would not publicly confirm such a move.

A strategy in 2023 to move the occasional “Ultimate Endless Shrimp” promotion to the regular menu drove in traffic but ultimately cost the company money — Red Lobster lost more than $11 million in the third quarter of the year, a loss in which the company said the shrimp effort played a role.

Red Lobster first opened in 1968.
